KODAK MAX VERSATILITY PLUS 800
ISO 800/30°
Grain: PGI 57
RP: Not stated
ID: GT

Kodak Max Versatility Plus (originally Gold Max 800) was the first ISO 800 color-print film in Kodak's lineup. It produces excellent color saturation, color accuracy and sharpness along with its great speed. Wide exposure latitude permits good prints from images exposed from ISO 50 to ISO 3200—six stops' worth of exposure latitude. An excellent film for low-light and flash photography, especially with point-and-shoot zoom cameras, which have very slow maximum apertures at their telephoto settings.

KODAK PROF. PORTRA 800
ISO 800/30°
Grain: PGI 50
RP: Not stated
ID: Portra 800

Like Kodak's Professional Portra 400NC (whose normal color balance it shares), Professional Portra 800 is a beautiful "people" film—at a speed of ISO 800. This is a fine available-light wedding and portrait film, but it's also great for action in harsh sun (with its good tonal scale) and under cloudy skies (with its high speed). And unlike its slower Portra brothers, it matches its ISO 800 Supra counterpart's amazingly fine grain. Like the Supra films, Portra films scan very well.

KODAK PROF. SUPRA 800
ISO 800/30°
Grain: PGI 50
RP: Not stated
ID: Supra 800

Along with its terrific image quality for its high speed, Supra 800 (which replaced Ektapress PJ800 in Kodak's pro-film lineup) can be pushed two stops (to EI 3200) with excellent results. This is a great film for low-light work, sports, action, news and runway fashion events. Like Supra 400, Supra 800 scans very well, and features a vibrant color palette. Kodak's Portra films were designed for pleasing skin tones, even under fluorescent lighting. For most everything else, Supra films are best.

KONICA COLOR CENTURIA 800
ISO 800/30°
Grain: RMS 5
RP: 100/50 lpm
ID: Centuria 800

The fastest of Konica's Color Centuria films, Centuria 800 still produces excellent image quality, with granularity and sharpness ratings similar to those of ISO 400 films. Utilizing Konica's latest emulsion technologies, Centuria 800 provides natural color rendition even under mixed lighting, even with hard-to-reproduce colors. This is a fine film to use anytime you need such a high film speed.

FUJICOLOR SUPERIA 1600/PRESS 1600
ISO 1600/33°
Grain: RMS 7
RP: 90/45 lpm
ID: CU

Fujifilm recently replaced its excellent ultrahigh-speed color-negative film, Super HG 1600, with the new Superia 1600, and added a similar 1600-speed emulsion to the professional Press family. The new superfast color-print films utilize Fujifilm's 4th Color Layer and Fine SigmaTechnology for accurate colors in a wide variety of lighting and remarkably fine grain for the film speed.

AGFACHROME RSX II 50 PROF.
ISO 50/18°
Grain: RMS 10
RP: 125/55 lpm
ID: RSX II 50

Agfa improved its already-excellent line of professional Agfachrome color-slide films with the RSX II family, increasing the maximum density and improving pushability. RSX II 50, the slowest of the group, offers heightened color saturation throughout the spectrum, fine nuances of tones, richer blacks, greater sharpness, better detail, improved reciprocity characteristics and higher processing stability.

FUJICHROME VELVIA PROF.
ISO 50/18°
Grain: RMS 9
RP: 160/80 lpm
ID: RVP

Velvia is a superb color-slide film with tremendous sharpness and superfine grain. It produces rich blacks, neutral grays and beautiful, rich colors. Velvia's contrast is higher than that of most color-slide films. An excellent and very popular slide film with photographers in many fields, especially scenic and nature photography, although some consider it a bit too saturated and contrasty for portraits.

KODAK EKTACHROME 64 PROF.
ISO 64/19°
Grain: RMS 12
RP: 125/50 lpm
ID: EPR

The veteran Etachrome 64 Professional (EPR) color-slide film offers a good speed-to-grain ratio and good exposure latitude, and produces soft highlight contrast and very bright colors. Excellent for landscapes and daylight portraits. It requires no reciprocity compensation at exposure times from 1/10-1/10,000, and can be pushed a stop when necessary. EPR is a long-time pro favorite.

KODACHROME 64 PROF.
ISO 64/19°
Grain: RMS 12
RP: 100/63 lpm
ID: KR, PKR

Essentially a faster version of the now-discontinued Kodachrome 25, Kodachrome 64 offers 11/3 stops more speed while maintaining excellent image quality. It also has more exposure latitude than Kodachrome 25. The pro version is released when it has "aged" to its optimum color balance, and should be exposed soon after purchase (or refrigerated until use) to maintain this optimum balance.

AGFACHROME CTPRECISA 100
ISO 100/21°
Grain: RMS 10
RP: 130/50 lpm
ID: CTprecisa 100

CTprecisa 100 replaced Agfachrome CTx 100 as Agfa's mass-market 100-speed color-slide film, with enhanced sharpness and color intensity and finer grain. CTprecisa 100 was the first to incorporate Agfa's Super Active Inhibitor System (SAIS), which improves edge effects and inter-image effects to produce improved definition and color brilliance, especially greens and blues.
