Grand Prize Winner

1. Scott Alan Johnson of Avon, Ohio, says that he’s photographed wild
squirrels and chipmunks around the Cleveland Metroparks for the past few years.
To capture this grand prize-winning shot, “Argus Smile,” Johnson
used a hand-held Nikon D100 with a Nikkor 24–120mm VR lens. The exposure
was 1¼250 at f/4, with an ISO of 200. (He’s named this little subject
Buddy, who’s using an old Argus 75 TLR camera with a flash gun.)

2. This sleepy smile was photographed by Na Yeon Jin of Santa Barbara, California,
who used a digital Canon EOS 20D and a Canon EF 28–70mm zoom lens. The
exposure wasn’t provided. Jin printed this image with an Epson Stylus
2200 on Epson Velvet Fine-Art paper.

3. Tommy Agriodimas of Scarsdale, New York, captured this lovely smile on his
grandmother’s face with a Hasselblad 503CW medium-format camera and an
80mm lens. He used Kodak Tri-X 120 film, and the exposure was not recorded.

4. Beth Olson of Lake Waccamaw, North Carolina, recorded this bashful grin on
her son’s face with a Fujifilm FinePix S7000 digital camera. She corrected
some minor flaws with Adobe Photoshop, and output the photo with an HP Photosmart
printer on HP glossy paper.

5. Susan Lowe of New Freedom, Pennsylvania, captured these happy faces with
her Olympus Camedia C-5050 digital camera on its super macro mode. The exposure
was 1¼3 at f/2, with an ISO setting of 125.
