Porter Case Rolling Softie 160

By PHOTOgraphic Staff

January 19, 2004 — Sturdy, protective, stable, and lightweight. These are the primary requirements for equipment cases for frequent travelers.

South Bend, IN - based Porter Case, Inc. appears to have met these needs and more. In mid-January, the manufacturer announced the introduction of a new wheeled equipment case with padded compartments. The front pouch holds files, memory cards, cords, etc. The middle compartment holds a separate removable notebook computer case with shoulder strap, and the rear area accommodates a padded cloth-covered fully adjustable divider system for camera gear in a 14.5" X 12.5" X 4.5" space. Velcro closures and #10 zippers keep everything intact.

Stability was another important consideration in the Rolling Softie's design. A telescoping handle extends to 41", perfect for photographers of all heights, and the base features a solid steel axle sporting six inline skate wheels, three per side at 14.5" apart.

Perhaps best of all, the Model 160 weighs less than 10 lbs. and meets all airline specifications for carryon luggage. Never trust you camera gear to luggage handlers again!
