New from Minolta
Ideal for shooting sports or wildlife, Minolta has announced two new Supersonic-Wave
(SSM) 35mm lenses—the AF 70–200mm f/2.8 APO G (D) and AF 300mm f/2.8
APO G (D). Both lenses utilize Minolta’s new supersonic-wave motor technology
for quiet, smooth AF operation. This new technology enhances the performance
of Minolta 35mm SLRs such as the Maxxum 7, Maxxum 5, Maxxum 4 and Maxxum 3.
The Minolta Maxxum 9 can be upgraded to activate the AF technology. The 70–200mm
lens contains 19 elements, which include four anomalous dispersion (AD) lenses,
and the 300mm lens has 13 elements, including three AD lenses. These lenses
are designed to eliminate lens aberrations and curvature of field. Also new
are two Minolta teleconverters: the AF 1.4X APO (D) and AF 2X APO (D). Minolta
